Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences
Members of CCBS are research staff, often with clinical appointments, drawn from the Division of Psychiatry, the Division of Clinical Neurosciences and the SFC Brain Imaging Research Centre. Their interests cover brain imaging, experimental neuroscience, prion diseases, psychiatric research, psychological medicine and stroke.

Members of CCNS are research staff interested in human cognitive neuroscience (including ageing), the neurobiology of learning, memory and plasticity (focusing on hippocampus and cortex), the processing of nociceptive somatosensory information, and the consequences of drug action including drugs of abuse.

Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology
This new centre has 6 main research groupings: cognitive epidemiology; human cognitive ageing; neuroendocrine aspects of ageing; animal models of cognitive ageing and neural health; human and animal brain imaging; genetics and statistics of brain ageing.

The University of Edinburgh's Centre for Neuroregeneration (formerly the Centre for Neuroscience Research) seeks to understand the mechanisms of neural development, injury and repair. Centre for Regenerative Medicine
The MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine (CRM) brings together world leading basic stem cell research with established clinical excellence to deliver a "bench-to-bedside" approach aimed at developing new treatments for major diseases including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, degenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease, and liver failure.

Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Research
The Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Research is a centre of excellence within the University of Edinburgh, set up to carry out research into MND (also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)). Its focus is on developing more effective treatment for patients and forming part of a worldwide effort towards finding a cure for the disease.

Molecular Medicine Centre

National CJD Surveillance Unit
The National CJD Surveillance Unit was set up in 1990 and the primary aim of the project is to monitor CJD in order to identify any change in the pattern of this disease that might be attributable to the emergence of Bovine Spongiform Encephaloapthy. It also has a research into the Biology of the Spongiform Encephalopathies.

The Patrick Wild Centre for Research into Autism, Fragile X Syndrome and Intellectual Disabilities
Members of The Patrick Wild Centre come from many difference disciplines.
