Science Festival

Edinburgh Neuroscience participated in the Edinburgh International Science Festival in 2008 and 2009 when we contributed to the University of Edinburgh College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine's 'Meet the Medics and Vets' at Discover Science. This takes place at The Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh each year. Our exhibit 'Sense and Nonsense: how we experience the world' looked at our senses and how they work, with particular reference to Touch. There was a feely box to let you use your sense of touch to identify hidden objects. We also worked with the Scottish Braille Press to show visitors how Braille can replace the visual written word and produced a Braille Detective Quiz for the kids. In addition, there were touch illusions (as opposed to optical illusions) and even an experiment on synaesthesia (where information from different senses merges) that you could take part in! It was all a big sucess so look out for us next year!
