Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence: bridging the gap from lab to bedside

The Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence was officially launched on Thursday on 30 January 2025 at the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR). Jointly funded by the charities Brain Tumour Research and Beatson Cancer Charity and led by Professor Steven Pollard and Professor Anthony Chalmers, the Centre is a collaboration between the universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and is the largest group of multidisciplinary glioblastoma researchers in the UK. By working together, their goal is to find urgent new treatments for patients who suffer from the most aggressive form of brain cancer. At the launch, researchers, patients and their families had the opportunity to tour IRR labs, gaining a first-hand look at ongoing research efforts.
