Professor Richard Morris (Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences) has been elected as an international member of the United States National Academy of Sciences in recognition of his world-leading neuroscience research.  The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is a private, non-profit organisation of the US's leading scientific researchers.

In addition, in September, Richard was awarded the 2020 Fyssen International Prize. The prize is awarded to a leading researcher who has made a prolonged, international impact in any of several disciplines. Richard was selected for his work on the neurobiological bases of cognitive processes, notably his work in the domain of "Ecological psychology and spatial navigation". The formal presentation of the Fyssen prize has been postponed until 2021 due to the current COVID restrictions.
