Approximately 50 million people worldwide are living with dementia and the annual global cost of dementia is over £600 billion. The most important risk factor for dementia is ageing, so these staggering numbers are set to grow in the coming years unless we find ways to prevent or treat the diseases that cause dementia symptoms. Join us to hear about what dementia actually is, what causes dementia, and the brain changes that occur in Alzheimer's disease, the most common cause of dementia. Hear about the current cutting edge research at the University of Edinburgh aiming to fully understand these changes in order to develop effective treatments.
