Flexibility and robustness of nervous system function
Flexibility and robustness of nervous system function
The workshop is part of the Gutenberg Workshops in the Life Sciences that provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of exciting findings and emerging trends in or impacting the life sciences.
The workshop will focus on exploring how degeneracy, i.e. multiple structurally different components yielding the same or very similar functions, facilitate both - flexibility and robustness - of nervous system function. It will discuss how degeneracy originates from heterogeneity of components, and how this enables neuronal function to be reliable, while also being able to accommodate different challenges, contexts, or states. The workshop will bring together participants who study nervous system function at different scales, from molecular to systems neuroscience, and using experimental or theoretical approaches. Registration is now open and places will be given on a first come first served basis. All attendees are asked to present a poster.
